How HomeWise handles what you tell it. Updated 26 September 2026.
1. What stays on your device
HomeWise saves your work in your browser so you can come back to it. Nothing in this table is sent to us or stored by us.
| What | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your conversation with the Advisor | 90 days | So you can pick up where you left off. |
| Your shortlist, summary and next step | 90 days | So your plan is still there next month. |
| The care profile card (who you care for) | 90 days | So you are not asked twice. |
| Citizenship, household income and daily-care needs, if you used the Subsidy Checker | 7 days | These are the most sensitive answers, and the device may be shared. A week covers the burst of questions; after that we would rather ask again. |
| Your answers to the short knowledge check around the coaching rooms (before and after each rehearsal), if you use them | 7 days on this device. If you are signed in, a copy is also kept with your account — see section 6 | These can include your own words about how these conversations go for you. Skipping either check is a complete answer. |
| Which practice rooms and short lessons you finished, and on which day, for the skills map | 90 days | So the skills map can show what you have practised. Room and lesson names and dates only, never anything you said. The skills map page has its own button to clear it. |
| How much cloud voice you have used this month, and which free tries you have used | 90 days | Counts only. No content. |
| Evening Companion: your language and voice choice | Until you change it | The Companion conversation itself is not saved anywhere. |
The Advisor page has a "What's saved on this device" panel. It shows what is there and how many days are left, and has two buttons: delete the sensitive answers only, or delete everything. Deleting is immediate and there is no one to ask.
If you clear your browser, or use a different phone, it is gone. That is by design — see section 3 if you want a way back.
2. What leaves your device, and where it goes
| What | Goes to | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|
| The text of each question you ask, with the recent conversation it belongs to | Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI), through our server | Used to write the answer. HomeWise does not store it. Anthropic's business terms do not allow it to be used to train their models. |
| Your voice, when you tap the microphone | Your browser's own speech service (Google on Chrome, Apple on Safari) | Turned into text by your browser, then handled like a typed question. HomeWise never receives or keeps a recording. |
| Your voice, when you tap the microphone in a rehearsal room on an iPhone or iPad | Microsoft's speech service, through our server | Apple's own speech service stops listening after the other person in the scene has spoken, so on iPhone and iPad we record what you say and send it to Microsoft to be turned into text. The recording passes through our server and is not stored by us. The text is then handled like a typed line. |
| The reply text, when it is read aloud | Microsoft's speech service, through our server | Turned into audio and played. Not stored by us. |
| Your email address and your plan, only if you ask us to email you a link | Our database and our email provider (Resend) | See section 3. |
| Your email address and your name as Google holds it, only if you choose "Continue with Google" | Google, then our database | Google tells us you are who you say you are, and tells you it has done so. We receive your email address and keep it as described in section 6. Google learns that you signed in to HomeWise. Use the email code instead if you would rather they did not. |
| Counts of what you used — which language, which page, how many turns, whether you tapped a product link | Our database, held with Supabase | See section 4. Never any words you typed. |
Like every website, ours runs on servers that keep standard connection logs for a short time. HomeWise is hosted by Vercel. There are no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels on HomeWise. We do keep our own count of which parts of HomeWise get used, described in section 4.
Google Analytics, only if you say yes. The first time you visit, we ask whether we may count your visit with Google Analytics. If you say no, or say nothing, no Google tag loads and nothing goes to Google. If you say yes, Google receives the pages you open on HomeWise, your rough location and the type of device you use, and sets a cookie to tell one visit from the next. It never receives what you type here: no chat messages, no answers to the Subsidy Checker, no name or email. We turn off advertising uses of that data, so it is not used to target ads at you. You can change your mind by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which brings the question back.
2a. Which of these are outside Singapore
Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act says that if we send your personal data out of the country, we have to make sure it is protected to a comparable standard where it lands. Here is the full list, so you can see it rather than take our word for it.
| Who | What they receive | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | What you type to the Advisor or the Companion, with the recent conversation | Outside Singapore |
| Microsoft Azure Speech | The reply text, when you have voice on, so it can be read aloud; and on iPhone and iPad, what you say into the microphone in a rehearsal room, so it can be turned into text | Southeast Asia region |
| Vercel | Standard connection logs | Outside Singapore |
| Resend | Your email address, only when you ask for a recovery link | Outside Singapore |
| That you signed in to HomeWise, only if you choose Continue with Google | Outside Singapore | |
| Supabase | Your account and the usage counts (sections 4 and 6) | Singapore |
Each of these is under a written data protection agreement with us that requires them to protect your data to a standard comparable to the PDPA, to use it only to provide the service, and to delete or return it when we ask. We keep those agreements on file. None of them may sell your data or use it to advertise to you, and none of them receives anything from the Subsidy Checker.
3. The recovery link
After a plan exists, HomeWise offers: "Keep this — we'll email you a link." If you accept, this is exactly what happens:
| We keep | For | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Your plan: the shortlist, which subsidies may apply, the open questions, the next step | 30 days | Not the conversation. Not your name or anyone's name. Not citizenship, income or care needs. The code refuses to save those even by mistake. |
| A scrambled version of your email address | 30 days | Your address is used once, to send the email, then discarded. What we keep cannot be turned back into your address; it only stops the same address being sent hundreds of links. |
| A scrambled version of the link itself | 30 days | Only the link in your email opens the plan. Reading our database would not give anyone a working link. |
| The fact that you agreed, and when | 30 days | You agreed to one thing: "to send you a link to your HomeWise care plan". We cannot send you anything else under it. |
You get one email. We do not email you again. To delete the link early, open it and choose "Delete this link", or press "Delete everything" on the device you made it from — that deletes the link on our side too. After 30 days it is deleted anyway.
4. Counting what gets used
We keep a count of how HomeWise is used, so we can tell which parts help and which are wasting your time. It is deliberately blunt.
What is counted: which language you read in, which part of HomeWise you opened, how many turns a conversation ran, whether a product link was tapped and on which shop, whether a lesson was finished, whether you tapped that an Advisor answer was useful or not, whether you told us you bought something we suggested (yes, not yet, or no, and nothing more), and whether the site had to stop and give you a helpline instead of an answer.
What is never counted: anything you typed or said. Not a question, not a fragment of one, not a search word. Nothing at all from the Subsidy Checker — your income, citizenship and care needs never leave your device, full stop. From the evening companion we keep only how long you talked and in which language, never the subject.
These counts carry a random code for your browser. It is not your name, not your email, and it is deliberately kept separate from the recovery link in section 3, so the two can never be put together. We delete counts older than 90 days. Pressing "Delete everything" deletes this browser's counts from our database as well.
Once you have an account we ask three optional questions about you — who you care for, how long you have been caring, and which part of Singapore you are in. They help us build for the people actually using this. Nothing about the person you care for is asked, and Not now is a complete answer that we do not ask again.
5. When you tap a shop link
Every product on HomeWise links out to the shop that sells it — Shopee, Lazada, or a Singapore supplier. The moment you tap, you are on their website and their privacy policy applies, not ours. We do not know what you looked at there and we do not know what you bought.
Some Lazada links carry a tracking ID. It identifies HomeWise as the site that sent you, so that Lazada pays Askinco a small commission if you buy something. Three things about it are worth stating plainly:
- The ID identifies us, not you. It is the same ID for every visitor. Nothing you typed, asked or answered on HomeWise travels with it.
- Lazada tells us nothing about you in return. We see a total, not a person, not a basket.
- It does not change what HomeWise shows you. Which products appear, their order, and which is cheapest are worked out from price and our published selection rules, before any link is built. There is a test in our code that fails the build if that ever stops being true.
Links that carry a commission say so on the card, next to the price. If you would rather not use one, every product page also names the shop, and you can search for it there yourself.
6. If you make an account
You do not need one. Every tool on HomeWise works without signing in, and always will. An account is offered only after you have finished something worth keeping — a care plan, a subsidy result — so that you can open it on another phone.
There is no password. You type your email address, we send you a code, and that is the whole of it. We do not ask for your name or your phone number.
You may also use Continue with Google, which is quicker. It means Google confirms your identity to us, and Google learns that you use HomeWise. We receive your email address, and also the name and the profile photo on your Google account, which Google sends whether we want them or not — we do not use either one, and both are deleted when you delete your account. We do not read your Gmail, your contacts or your files, and we cannot. The email code does the same job without involving them, and it is there for anyone who prefers it.
| What we store | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Your email address | Until you delete the account |
| What you saved — which plan, which room, which next step | Until you delete the account |
| Your free tries and voice allowance, so they follow you to a new phone | Until you delete the account |
| A record of what you agreed to, and the exact words you were shown | Until you delete the account |
| Your answers to the optional questions about yourself, if you give them | Until you delete the account |
| Your answers to the coaching-room knowledge check, including anything you write in the two open questions, if you are signed in when you answer | Until you delete the account |
| The name and profile photo on your Google account, if you signed in with Google. We do not use them | Until you delete the account |
Your conversations are not part of that. What you type to the Advisor and the Companion stays on your device, exactly as described in section 1, whether you have an account or not. Neither is your care profile, and neither are your Subsidy Checker answers.
Nothing about the person you care for is stored on our side. Not their name, not their age, not their condition.
A few optional questions. Once you have an account we ask three short questions about you — who you care for, how long you have been caring, and which part of Singapore you are in. Every one has a “prefer not to say”, and closing the form is a complete answer. We ask so we can build for the people who actually use HomeWise. We never ask about the person you care for, and we do not pass any of it to anyone.
The coaching-room knowledge check. The rehearsal rooms ask a short, skippable set of questions before each scene and again right after it, every time you rehearse — about your own confidence and experience with these conversations, never about your parent. If you are signed out, the answers stay on this device only, as in section 1. If you are signed in, they are also saved to your account, including anything you write in the two open text boxes. We show you this plainly on the screen itself, in the same words as here, before you type anything. Skipping either check, or any question in it, is a complete answer and changes nothing about which coaching rooms you can use.
Signing in is not agreeing to hear from us. Emails about guides and subsidy changes are a separate, optional tick-box, off unless you turn it on, and you can stop them at any time.
Deleting. "Delete my account" is in the same panel as everything else, on the Advisor page. It removes every row above and wipes this device at the same time. It is immediate and there is nobody to ask.
And we delete it for you if you stop coming back. Twice a week a job goes through the accounts and finds any that have not been signed in to for 24 months. It emails you first, to the address on the account, and deletes the account and everything in it 30 days later unless you have signed in by then. Signing in once is all it takes to keep it. The law says we should stop holding personal data once there is no longer a reason to, and an account nobody has opened in two years has no reason left.
7. What we never do
No passwords. No phone numbers. No advertising, and no paid placement — nobody can buy their way onto a HomeWise page or up its ranking. No selling or sharing of anything about you. No messages you did not ask for. No passing your details to a care provider. No decisions about what support you receive — HomeWise tells you which schemes may apply and who to ask; the agencies decide.
8. Who we are, and how to reach us
HomeWise is operated by Askinco Pte Ltd (UEN 202626947D), 187 Boon Lay Avenue, #01-86, Singapore 640187.
Our Data Protection Officer is Kelvin Pang. For anything about your personal data — a question, a complaint, or a request to see or delete what we hold — write to dpo@askinco.com. A person reads it, and we aim to reply within 30 days.
What you can ask for. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and how we have used it, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, and withdraw any consent you gave. Most of it you can do yourself, faster, from the panel on the Advisor page. Write to the address above for the rest. If you are not happy with how we answer, you can take it to Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission at pdpc.gov.sg.
If something goes wrong. If personal data we hold is exposed or lost in a way that could harm you, we will tell the Personal Data Protection Commission within three calendar days of working out that it happened, and we will tell you as soon as we can after that. We would rather say it here than be asked later whether we had a plan.
For anything else, enquiry@askinco.com.
This notice is written to meet Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act. If we change what HomeWise keeps, this page changes first.
