HDB EASE 2.0 Singapore — Complete Guide to Enhancement for Active Seniors
HDB EASE 2.0 (Enhancement for Active Seniors) helps elderly Singaporeans make their HDB homes safer with subsidised structural modifications — ramps, handrails, grab bars and more. Here's everything you need to know to apply.
What is HDB EASE 2.0?
HDB EASE 2.0 (Enhancement for Active Seniors) is a subsidy programme by HDB that helps elderly residents make their HDB flats more accessible and safe. It covers structural home modifications — things fixed to the home itself, like ramps at the entrance, internal handrails, widened doorways, and non-slip treatment on floor surfaces.
Unlike AIC SMF (which covers portable devices), EASE 2.0 focuses on permanent home modifications. Eligible households receive up to S$2,500 to S$5,000 off the cost of approved modifications, depending on flat type and household income.
Who Qualifies for HDB EASE 2.0?
Your household must meet all of the following criteria:
- At least one occupant aged 65 and above (Singapore Citizen or PR)
- HDB flat owner or long-term tenant (public rental tenants may apply via a separate scheme)
- Flat must be occupied by the elderly occupant (not rented out entirely)
- No previous EASE application for the same flat within the eligibility window
Income is not a primary qualifier for EASE 2.0 — subsidy amount is tiered by flat type. Always check current eligibility at hdb.gov.sg/ease.
What Modifications Are Covered?
EASE 2.0 covers a range of structural modifications across different zones of the home:
Entrance
Ramp at main door, portable ramp

Grab bars, fold-down shower seat, non-slip floor treatment, lowered threshold
Bedroom
Grab bar beside bed
Corridors

Doorways
Widened doorways for wheelchair access
Kitchen
Non-slip floor treatment

Can I Combine EASE 2.0 with AIC SMF?
Yes — EASE 2.0 and AIC SMF are complementary. EASE 2.0 covers structural modifications (fixed to the flat), while AIC SMF covers portable assistive devices (grab bars you buy, walkers, wheelchairs, fall detection devices). Many families use both. Read our AIC SMF guide →
