Home Caregiving Grant (HCG): who qualifies and how much you get

Rules checked 15 October 2026 against Agency for Integrated Care

The Home Caregiving Grant is a monthly cash payment from the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) for families who look after someone at home who needs help with daily activities. It is $600, $400 or $200 a month, depending on household income.

The short answer

  • $600, $400 or $200 a month, set by household monthly income per person.
  • The person cared for must permanently need some help with at least 3 of the 6 activities of daily living.
  • Singapore Citizens qualify. A PR qualifies if they have a living Singapore Citizen parent, child or spouse.
  • They must live at home, not in a residential long-term care institution.

How much is the Home Caregiving Grant?

The grant is $600, $400 or $200 a month, set by your household's monthly income per person.

Household monthly income per personGrant each month
$0 to $1,500$600
$1,501 to $3,600$400
$3,601 to $4,800$200

A household with no income is assessed on the Annual Value of its home instead. An Annual Value of $21,000 or less receives $600.

If you own more than one property, the grant is $200 a month. AIC states that subsidy levels in 2026 use 2025 Annual Values.

Who qualifies for the Home Caregiving Grant?

The person being cared for must meet all four conditions below.

  • Is a Singapore Citizen, or a PR with a parent, child or spouse who is a living Singapore Citizen.
  • Permanently needs some help with at least 3 of the 6 activities of daily living.
  • Does not live in a residential long-term care institution such as a nursing home.
  • Lives in a household with monthly income of $4,800 or less per person.

Can a PR get the Home Caregiving Grant?

Yes, if the PR has a parent, child or spouse who is a living Singapore Citizen.

This rule is different from the other schemes. The Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund (SMF) accepts any PR aged 60 and above. Both EASE schemes need a Singapore Citizen household.

What does needing help with 3 of 6 daily activities mean?

The six activities of daily living are washing, dressing, feeding, toileting, moving from bed to chair, and walking or moving around. The person must permanently need some help with at least 3 of them.

The need is assessed through a Functional Assessment Report (FAR), filled in by a qualified assessor such as a doctor, nurse or therapist.

How do I apply for the Home Caregiving Grant?

Apply through AIC, which assesses eligibility.

Start at aic.sg/HCG or call AIC on 1800 650 6060. Ask AIC how to get the Functional Assessment Report if you do not have one yet.

Which other schemes use the same 3 of 6 test?

CareShield Life and the Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme also use the 3 of 6 activities test, so check both.

CareShield Life pays a monthly sum for life on severe disability. Pioneers who need help with 3 activities can also receive $100 a month under the Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme.
